Palmer, Massachusetts is made up of four separate and distinct villages: Deport Village, Thorndike Village, Three Rivers and Bondsville. There are four separate water districts, three separate fire department and four separate village centers in addition to large tracts of farmland. The villages began to develop their distinctive identities in the 18th century, and by the 19th century, when two rail lines and a trolley line opened Palmer to population growth, newcomers generally migrated to the village that appealed to them.
John King was the first settler in Palmer, building his home in 1716 on the banks of the Chicopee River. He was followed by a large group of Scots-Irish Presbyterians who arrived in 1727. Depot Village has been the main commercial and business center of Palmer for 125 years.
Bondsville is the site of much of the town’s industry, which dates back to the establishment of the first grist and sawmills in the 18th century. The Blanchard Scythe Factory, Wright Wire Woolen Mills and the Holden-Fuller Woolen Mills developed major industrial facilities in Palmer and constructed a large amount of workers’ housing. Some of the workers’ quarters still stand today, an architectural landmark and reminder of Palmer’s rich history. Now primarily residential, Palmer offers a gorgeous natural landscape, a convenient location near Springfield, the state of Connecticut and the mountains of the Berkshire region, and excellent opportunities for recreation and leisure. Let’s get straight to the point. If you want the best views in the British Virgin Islands, and possibly the Caribbean, you need to take a look at ‘Rising Sun’. This luxurious 4 bedroom Villa is everything a Caribbean dream home should be. To get there, you take a short five minute boat ride from Beef Island, Tortola to the island of Great Camanoe. Once there you land in a delightful small private Marina that marks the entrance to the luxury residential estate known as Indigo Plantation, home to 19 exclusive residences. A golf cart will then take you over well maintained tarmac roads up to the 2.064 acre site and to the entrance to Rising Sun. At this point, stop, look around and be amazed at the absolutely incredible views. You can see islands and ocean to the South, North, East and West…it is truly breath taking. Having recovered, you can make your way into the home. On the upper level you will find a large lounge and kitchen area that opens on to a spacious terrace facing with primary views out over Marina Cay and on towards Virgin Gorda. The lounge is comfortably furnished and most of the furnishings are included in the sale. The attractive kitchen is well equipped, practical and appliance are relatively new. Behind the lounge is the sunset terrace, this one with views out over Guana Island and beyond. Off the lounge area can be found two bedrooms, both with ensuite bathrooms, again comfortably funrished and providing spectacular views. On the lower level there are two further bedrooms, one with ensuite bathroom and an outdoor shower with ornate and unique Gecko Shower and toilet. The lower level again has a large deck for relaxing, soaking up the sun whilst enjoying the cooling breeze and the wonderful vistas. There is of course a swimming pool, jacuzzi and a well equipped bar close at hand. On the practical side, there’s DSL, Satellite TV, large garage, utility room and workshop and lots of storage space.
