google maps – street view – for customer verification (part 2:2)
Posted on February 5th, 2010 by admin
This video is an addendum to my first video on using google for simple customer verification. I have an open ‘yahoo question to find out how to see old real estate listings. (Similar in that you get a picture, but you also have VERY detailed info on the house such as how many bedrooms, bathrooms, etc.) A scammer with a stolen credit card wouldn’t stand a chance at quickly answering such questions.
Customer verification techniques such as this were pioneered by ebay and playerauctions powersellers years ago. They’d just look you up in the online white pages and make sure that matched your PayPal address, and also just put your number into records after “giving a call to confirm the order”. They weren’t actually making sure you ordered correctly, they were making sure that it was you that really placed that order and sent payment over PayPal.
(Don’t bother trying to steal the stuff in my neighbor’s driveway, it was already stolen immediately after I posted this video online!)
