http://www.seekonkmarealestate.com — Tour Seekonk, MA neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.

Seekonk, Massachusetts is a suburban community on the Rhode Island border. Incorporated in 1812 from the western half of Rehoboth, Seekonk features rolling hills and unspoilt wetlands, with extensive swamp acreage in the central portions of the town. During King Philip’s War, settlers fled the Seekonk area and took refuge in several Garrison houses to the north and south. Historians speculate that the buildings in town suffered severe damage during the war; it was probably after 1676 that settlers began filtering back into Seekonk.

The community remained basically agricultural into the 20th century, although the Kent Manufacturing Company did make tennis racquets and croquet sets on the upper reaches of the Tenmile River. With the opening of the Providence and Taunton Street railway in 1891, Seekonk became increasingly a residential suburb of Providence.

Seekonk offers the virtues and values of small town living within easy reach of Boston, MA, Providence, RI, and the beaches of Cape Cod and Rhode Island. With a high quality of education and diverse cultural and recreational choices, Seekonk and its surrounding communities are ideal places to raise a family or locate a business. Westminster Massachusetts (MA) Real Estate Tour

Posted on January 22nd, 2010 by admin

http://www.westminstermarealestate.com Tour Westminster, MA neighborhoods, condominium developments, subdivisions, schools, landmarks, recreational areas, and town offices.

Westminster, Massachusetts is a suburban town near Worcester in the central region of the state. Originally settled as the six-square mile Narragansett Township Number 2, the lands which later became Westminster were granted to veterans and heirs of veterans of King Philip’s War in 1728. Every homeowner was a farmer in those early days, and some set up sawmills, grain mills and shops to provide other necessities.

Westminster emerged as a a bustling industrial community at the outset of the 19th century, with chair manufacturing being the chief occupation in addition to paper and textile mills and brickmaking. When the railroad constructed their tracks only in the northern part of town, many business moved to Gardner or Fitchburg, and Westminster has retained the historic charm of rural New England ever since.

In the early 20th century, townspeople made chairs and manufactured paper while an unusually large influx of Finnish immigrants took over the old farms in Westminster and settled into an agricultural lifestyle. Today’s industries are diverse, from small family owned businesses to large corporations.

Suburban development on attractive lakeside sites and in sections of town with views of Wachusett Mountain has been a key focus of Westminster’s modern day growth. Westminster residents value the community’s rural and historic character, its natural beauty and its prime location, and they take pride in participating in the social and governmental affairs of the town.
